Although admittance into ACC was restricted to soldiers serving in the ranks, the establishment of ACC was determined to follow the NDA model. A larger focus was placed on academics at ACC with an equal emphasis on developing officer-like traits in them. Regular army, navy, and air force personnel are trained by the Army Cadet College Wing in preparation for commission as officers in the Indian Army. The Indian Military Academy receives students from the ACC Exam, and their accomplishments are seen and celebrated at every level.
At the IMA, ACC has now been renamed the Siachen Battalion. Written exams and a subsequent Services Selection Board selection process are used to determine who gets admitted to ACC.
ACC Selection Process
Since it began operating 80 years ago, ACC has produced a number of well-known alumni. 15 students from the former Kitchener College, which later became the ACC, were included in the first course at IMA, which had 40 GCs.
Military Training Directorate holds the ACC (I & II) Written Exam twice a year to select applicants for the Indian Army.
The ACC selection process comprises four different stages.
- Phase 1: Written Test (Objective Type)
- Phase 2: SSB Interview
- Phase 3: Medical Test
- Phase 4: Merit List
Step Wise ACC Entry Selection Proces
- Step 1: To find candidates for the ACC entry, the CO or OC conducts a unit-level written exam.
- Step 2: After passing the ACC written exam, candidates are interviewed by senior officials for additional screening. The documents of those who pass are then sent to the higher formation.
- Step 3: Selected candidates are given a 10-week training course assignment at Command HRDCs (Human Resource Development Centers). The results will be announced by DGMT/MT-15, or Director General of Military Training MT-15.
- Step 4: A merit list of 500 applicants is made up of jawans who will be subjected to SSB interviews. These applicants must complete a preparatory exam that resembles the SSB interview.
- Step 5: 200 applicants are picked to take the Young Leaders Course (YLC) at OTA Chennai after the screening test, and the remaining applicants will participate in Personality Development Training, or PDT, at the AEC Centre and Command HRDCs.
- Step 6: Candidates are invited to join the ACC section of the IMA if they pass the SSB interview and medical exams (Indian Military Academy.)
Prerequisites for ACC Admission
- The jawan must have an excellent ACR (Annual Confidential Report).
- Jawan must have a spotless record with no red ink.

Ans. The ACC Entry exam is typically offered in February and August for courses beginning in January and July.
