ARMY CADET COLLEGE (ACC)

The Army Cadet College trains soldiers from the regular Army, Navy and Air Force for commissioned officers in Indian Army. ACC wing is situated at IMA Dehradun. Recruitment process for ACC is carried out twice in a year and training are identical to the training of NDA where candidates are trained for Graduate course in Science and Humanities.
The selection for admission to ACC is based on a written test and subsequent selection via Services Selection Board. ACC has been in operation for 80 years now and has graduated some notable alumni. The first course at IMA comprising 40 GCs included 15 from the erstwhile Kitchner College that became the ACC. The first Sword of Honour at IMA was Smith Dun, later COAS Burma.
The foundation of ACC can be traced to the Kitchener College founded in 1929 at Nowgong, Madhya Pradesh. The Kitchner College became the ACC in 1960, and in 1964 it relocated to Ghorpuri, near Pune, to take over the campus of the erstwhile OTI (merged into OTA Madras). The institute moved again in July 1977, this time to Dehra Dun, to become a wing of Indian Military Academy.

Through Permanent Commission (Special list) Entry serving soldiers can become officer provided they must be matric passed and should be below 42 years of age with minimum 10 years of service.

SCO entry is yet another entry which provides opportunity to the serving soldiers to be an officer in Indian Army.

CommissionWorthy Scheme in Indian Navy
Type of Entry– Service entry
Who can apply-Only Seaman serving in Indian Navy
- Sailors who possess unique leadership qualities and fulfil requisite conditions in terms of age, education &service conditions and who aspire to become Commissioned Officer in the Navy through Commission Worthy (CW) scheme and Special Duties (SD) scheme.
- Such officer gets the chance to Command Ships and Units and even rise to become Admirals! That is Navy’s way of giving an opportunity to deserving men who due to some unforeseen reasons could not make it to the officer rank.
- Exact eligibility criteria and service requirements are unknown for CW and SD schemes, these entries are notified through service channels. To be an officer in Indian navy it is must to face SSB Interview which applies in this entry also.
