Details of Indian Coast Guard Medical

Introduction:

Recently the stage two of the Indian Coast Guard has been concluded. Aspirants who are qualified in the stage two of the examination will move forward to the next stage i.e., medical examination according to their merit list.

In this article we are going to discussed the medical standards, physical fitness test, detailed pattern of stage one and two, age limit and educational qualification.

Medical Standards procedure:

Medical examination will be conducted by Military Doctors according to the medical standards prescribed for personnel entry.

Height –

The minimum height to qualify in the examination is 157 cms. There will be some relaxation in the height for candidates coming from hilly and tribal areas and will be in accordance with the orders from union government.

Chest –

This should be well proportioned according to the standard given. The minimum expansion is 5 cms.

Weight –

The weight should be in proportionate to height and age or in other words it will calculate your body mass index.

Hearing –

The hearing power should be in normal condition.

Note –

In addition with above condition candidates are required to clean their ears and teeth for the procedure to be smooth.

Visual Standard –

• The better eye should be in 6/6 condition
• The worst eye criteria are 6/9 not more than that.

Note – The candidates those are using glasses are not eligible.

Tattoo:  

Tattoos which are intended as permanent on the body are not accepted. The candidates belonging to tribal area get some relaxation in tattoos. For other candidates permanent body tattoos are only permitted on inner face of forearms i.e., from inside of elbow to the wrist and on the reverse side of palm/back (dorsal) side of the hand.

Note –

• The candidates who will fulfill above medical criteria will allow to appear in the examination and will be selected after the procedure got finished.
• The coast guard order on medical standard of Navik will possess the final authority in case of any query or dispute arises.
• Aspirants who declared permanent medically unfit by any Armed Forces hospital previously in any recruitment procedure for the same entry in the Indian coast guard are not applicable.

Physical Fitness Test:

The candidates who qualify after the written exam are eligible for the Physical fitness test. All the candidates are advised to be in proper sport shoes, t- shirt and trouser at the time of reporting for the test.

The physical fitness test will comprise of three stages –
(a) 1.6 km run which is to be completed in 7 minutes.

(b) 20 squats ups or Uthak- Baithak

(c) 10 push-ups.

Note –

It is to be noted here that candidates doing to the push-ups should do it on their own risk.

Educational Qualification:

Candidates applying for the Indian Coast Guard Examination need to pass the intermediate (10+2) with Maths and Physics as their subject from the recognized board of India.

Age Limit:

The minimum age of the applicants should be 18 whereas the maximum age of the applicants should be 22 years.  

Selection Procedure:

1. Short-listing criteria will be based on higher percentage of marks for a particular examination Centre.
2. The qualifying cut off percentage (%) of a particular Centre may be increased if a greater number of applications with higher percentage is received
3. The written examination will be of objective type, which will generally cover subjects such as Maths, Physics, basic Chemistry, knowledge of English upto 12th standard, general knowledge, current affairs, quantitative aptitude and reasoning etc.
4. Those who qualify written examination will undergo Physical Fitness Test (PFT) and the testing procedure will take about 2 days. Physically Challenged candidates are not eligible to apply for this examination.

Examination Pattern:

Candidates applying for the Indian Coast Guard examination need to clear 3 stages that first stage include written examination.

In this there will be duration of 45 minutes for 6o question consisting of 60 marks.
