CoBRA commandos are part of CRPF forces that operates under the Ministry of Home Affairs, while the Army comes under the Ministry of Defence. CoBRA commandos or “Jungle Warriors “are specialized in Jungle war. This Commando force has been raised for guerilla/jungle warfare type operations for dealing with extremists and insurgents. They undergo rigorous Commando & Jungle warfare training.
The CoBRA battalions are an integral part of the CRPF and are administered by the CRPF. With operations of CoBRA exclusively for internal security purposes. 9 battalions of CoBRA are deployed in Left Wing Extremism affected areas and 1 CoBRA is deployed in North East.
Way’s to Join CoBRA Commando:-

There is no direct entry for the CoBRA Commando. If you wish to join this force then you have to join CRPF as Assistant Commandant, Assistant Sub-inspector, or at constable rank. Upon the completion of basic training, the officers and jawans can opt for joining the CoBRA battalion. Once the men give their nominations for joining CoBRA, their age is considered with 30 years being the upper age limit for officers and jawans.

These are the way’s of joining CRPF and After comption of training you can go for CoBRA commando training if you want.
Training of CoBRA Commandos:-
After selection, one has to undergo rigorous training. CoBRA commando training is conducted at CRPF jungle warfare schools at Belgaum and Koraput. CoBRA commando training is similar to the NSG commandos. They are trained in jungle warfare. The CoBRA commando are also trained for heliborne insertions and drops. After completion of three months of training, the CoBRAs are ready to be deployed at their units.
Women as CoBRA Commandos:-
Women also constitute a large number of the Police Force. CRPF is the only Para Military Force in the Country that has 06 Mahila (Ladies) Battalions. At present Mahila, personnel is deployed on active duty in Jammu & Kashmir, Ayodhya, Manipur, Assam, and other parts of the country where they are doing a commendable job.
The CRPF is considering for induction of women personnel in its specialized jungle warfare commando force CoBRA. Women in CoBRA’s could be a very strategic and important decision. Ten Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) units with over 12,000 personnel were raised under the CRPF in 2009 for undertaking intelligence-based jungle warfare operations.
