CDS exam is one of the best opportunities to graduate students who want to join the defence as an officer. UPSC conducts the CDS exam twice a year, so those who are not selected can apply for the next exam. There are two steps of the selection process in the CDS Exam i.e written exam and the SSB Interview.

Selection Process of CDS Exam:
The Selection of the candidate through the CDS Examination will be done in three phases. It is mandatory to clear all three phases of selection. here is the process of selection of CDS Examination.
- Written Exam
- SSB Interview
- Medical Examination
A candidate will have to clear all these phases of the selection. The Written exam is easy as compared to the SSB (Service Selection Board) Interview.
The shortlisting of the candidates for the SSB Interview will be done on the basis of the marks scored in the Written examination. First, you have to clear the written examination and then all the selected candidates in the written examination will proceed for the SSB Interview and then medical test, etc. There is no such physical test that helps separately. Your Physical Stamina may be checked in the SSB Interview while the ground task activities.
Examinations are conducted for selection in two different departments in the written examination of CDS. In which the following types of topics are asked.

- Questions of 500 marks are asked in the written examination. In which written test of 300 marks is done for IMA, INA, And AFA and 200 marks for written test OTA.
- The examination of IMA, INA, and AFA is six hours and the written examination of OTA is 4 hours.
- All the questions asked in the exam are objective type.
- The questions asked in the subject of Mathematics in the question paper are of 10th level while the questions of other subjects are of graduation level.

Marking scheme in CDS 2021
- Each of the questions in the CDS exam is an objective type.
- Each question has 1 mark
- 0.33 marks are deducted for the wrong answer.
