22 Year of Operation Vijay: The Victory of Kargil in 1999 with Pakistan (Kargil Vijay Diwas)
The Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated every year in the memory of our martyrs who saved the nation during the Kargil war 1999 with Pakistan. Many events take place every year in different parts of the country to remember the great soldiers of the Kargil Victory. We remember our martyrs, by revisiting the sacrifices, instilling pride, and respect among us. We rejoice by celebrating the victory in Kargil.” And, We renew our resolve to safeguard the honor of the Tricolour.
22 Year of Operation Vijay
After the 1971 war with Pakistan, the relation between the two countries was very worsen, there had been a long period with relatively few direct armed conflicts involving the military forces of the two neighbors. Sometimes the separatist (supported by Pakistan) destroy the peace in the valley and sometimes the direct conflict with the Pak army.
In an attempt to defuse the situation, both countries signed the Lahore Declaration in February 1999, promising to provide a peaceful and bilateral solution to the Kashmir conflict. After the sign of peace pact Pakistan send troop to Kashmir at 3 May and they attacked some Civilian and military, this was the first event happened and Pakistan declared the war against India. Indian Army also sends an extra soldier to the valley for the counter strike and named it Operation Vijay.
Kargil war is a 2 months, 3 weeks and 2 days war and we lost so many soldiers, finally on 26 July 1999, we won the war and send back the Pakistani troop.
Every year at 26 July we celebrate the Kargil Vijay Diwas. and for this A ‘Commemoration Ceremony’ has been hosted at the Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi, where a group discussion with the war veterans will be conducted. After that, the ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas Evening’ a cultural event, will take place at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium.
22 year has been passed, since then so many changes happened in the Kashmir. Indian Government revokes articles 370 and 35A to maintain peace in Kashmir. Now J&K has become the Union Territory. After the 370, separatist activity is low in the state, and we hope everything is fine in the Jammu and Kashmir state.
But we proved that if any country tries to disturb the peace in Indian Territory then they have to face war like this. and Our Armed forces are ready for any misconduct.
