Territorial Army is a second line of defence after the Regular Indian Army. It is not a profession or an occupation. It is only meant for those people who are already in civilian professions. What is the Eligibility Criteria for a Territorial Army Officer?
- Only an Indian origin aspirant can apply for the post of Territorial Army officer.
- Age bar for the required posts must be between 18-42 years on the date of application.
- A prospective Territorial Army officer must be a Graduate from reputed university.
- A candidate must be physically and medically fit in all aspects.
- He will be gainfully employed.
In order to be a prospective Territorial Army officer, an aspirant is required to go through three stages of selection. Firstly, he needs to pass a Written Examination Test. Second stage would be the preliminary Interview board and the last one would be the conduction of SSB interview.
The written Examination is divided into two parts. First part consists of Reasoning and Elementary Mathematics. The second part comprises of English and General Awareness.
The qualified candidates who are already employed can apply according to the advertisements published in newspapers. Applications for the post of Territorial Army Officer are then sent to Territorial Army Group Headquarters. Once the applications are proceeded, the eligible candidates are then called up for Preliminary Interview Board which is held at various Territorial Army group headquarters. Finally, the selected candidates will undergo through the SSB interview, Medical Board and police verification. Lastly the selected candidates will grant permission by the President of India.
