Indian Army provides huge opportunity to youths to join it as a soldiers as it releases notification for its various branches. There is no fixed month of release of notification as these vacancies are notified throughout the year for various states. Here in this blog we are going to provide details about the various soldier category entries which starts from 10th standard and goes till graduation.
Solider (General Duty)
Table of Contents
Age-17 ½ to 21 years
Educational Standards-
- 10th pass with minimum 33% marks in each subject and 45% marks in aggregate
- Education Boards with Grading System-Minimum of D grade (33- 40) in individual subjects and overall aggregate of C 2 grade (41-50) points is considered
- 10+2 pass or more need not have 45% marks in 10th .
Soldier Clerk/Store Keeper (Clk/SKT)
Age- 17 ½ to 23 years
Educational Standards-
- 10+2 pass in any stream (Arts, Commerce, Science) with 60% in aggregate and 50% in each subject
- The candidate should have studied and passed English and Maths/Accounts/ Book Keeping at 10th or 12th level.
- If candidate is graduate with Maths and English as his subject in BSc, the stipulation of scoring 50% in Class X/Class XII is waived off.
- In case candidate is graduate but not having English and Maths/Accts/Book Keeping, he should have secured more than 50% in English & Maths/Accts/ Book Keeping at least once in Class X or Class XII.
Soldier Technical
Age- 17 ½ to 23 years
Educational Standards-
- Minimum 10+2 passed in science with English. Physics, Chemistry and Maths with 50% in aggregate and 40% in each subject.
Soldier Nursing Assistant (Sol NA & Sol (NA Veterinary)
Age- 17 ½ to 23 years
Educational Standards-
- Minimum 10+2 passed in science with Physics, chemistry, Biology and English with 40% marks in each subject and a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.
- In case of a graduate having BSc Degree (Botany/Zoology/Bio Science) and English (Simple Pass) the stipulation of percentage in class 12th is not mandatory.
Soldier Tradesmen (Tdn)
Age- 17 ½ to 23 years
Educational Standards-
- Minimum 10th Pass-Chef Community, Steward, Washerman, Dresser (Barber), Kennelman, Painter, Tailor, Equipment Repairer (Support Staff), Saddler (U), Artisan (Metallurgy) and Artisan (Wood Worker).
- Minimum 8th Pass. House Keeper (Safaiwala), Mess Keeper
Physical Standards-
Physical Standard (Height, Weight and Chest) are given below:-

These are the entries which one can apply if one satisfies all the eligibility conditions. The most attracting thing about these recruitment are it comes throughout the year and getting selected in these examinations is comparatively easy.
How to Apply?
All candidates will apply online for the Recruitment Rally. The candidates will register themselves by going to the site www.joinindianarmy.nic.in which will open for a particular date. After some days they will download the admit card and carry a printed copy of the same to the venue on the date of their district as per rally schedule given in the programme.
Important Instruction-
There are some important instructions which candidates need to adhere, these are-
- Producing fake documents and giving false information will make you for liable for termination of your service in spite of any number of years’ service you may render.
- After enrollment in the army, some of your fundamental rights will be restricted which are given in army act 1950 and army rule 1954.
- Screening will be done strictly as per age group and cut off dates as given. Candidates not within cut off dates will not be permitted.
- Domicile Certificate (Sthai niwas praman patra) is required as per State Government.
- All candidates should preferably wear their sports shoes during PFT (run, balance, beam and ditch) to avoid injury to their feet.
- Use of physical performance enhancement drugs is not permitted. Candidates are liable to be screened for the use of drugs during rally. Army will not be responsible for any mishaps during the run/other physical tests.
- Permanent body tattoos are only permitted on inner face of forearm i.e from inside of elbow to the wrist and on the reverse side of palm/back (dorsal) side of hand. Permanent body tattoos on any other part of body are not acceptable and the candidate will be barred from selection.
- Tribals with tattoos mark on the face or body as per their existing custom and tradition will be permitted on a case to case basis.
- Grievance cell is established at rally site to attend all types of grievance/redressal of candidates. Any grievance related to the recruitment rally, measurement of height, weight, chest, will be given in writing by the candidates to the grievance cell on the same day of the recruitment rally. Request for re-measuring of height, weight and chest will not be entertained at a later date, incase you have not reported the same at grievance cell. Your queries and requests sent at a later date will not be replied if you have not reported to grievance cell.
