A candidate will have to clear the different phases of exams and interview to get into the service as an assistant commandant. The Selection Process of the assistant Commandant is like:
- Preliminary Exam
- Final Exam
- Medical Test
The shortlisting of the candidates for the preliminary Exam will be done on the basis of the marks scored in the last exam.
The candidate will have to appear for the two rounds of test and each round of the test would be different. The Preliminary Selection round Test contains the Mental Ability Test (MAT) and the Picture Perception and Discussion Test (PPDT). Before appearing for this round, the candidate must submit his mark sheet, pass certificate of relevant examination, caste certificate, character certificate, and two passport size photographs.
The students who have qualified the Preliminary Selection Round will be appearing for the Final Selection Round. The Final Selection Board conducts the Final Selection Round. It contains the Psychology Test, Group Test, and Interview. Dates and venue for the final selection round are published on the official website of Indian Coast Guard.
