Eligibility Condition:-
There are three criteria for the recruitments which are given below-
- Direct Entry Petty Officer
- Senior Secondary Recruit (SSR)
- Matric Recruits (MR)
(A). Direct Entry Petty Officer:-
Educational Qualifications:-10+2 qualified in any stream or equivalent examination.
Sports Proficiency:- There will be two types of game you have to perform.
- Team Games:-Should have participated at International /National/State level at junior /senior level or represented a University in the Inter-University tournament.
- Individual Events:-Should have attained a minimum of 6th position in Nationals (seniors) or 3rd position in National (juniors) or 3rd position in the Inter-University meets.
Age. 17 to 22 years as on the date of commencement of course. Candidates should have been born between 01 Aug 1997 to 31 Jul 2002 (Both dates inclusive)
(B).Senior Secondary Recruit (SSR):-
Educational Qualifications:-10+2 qualified in any stream or equivalent examination.
Sports Proficiency:-Should have participated at International/National/State level or represented a University in the Inter-University tournament.
Age. 17 to 21 years as on date of commencement of course. Candidates should have been born between 01 Aug 1998 to 31 Jul 2002 (Both dates inclusive)
(C) Matric Recruits (MR):-
Educational Qualifications:-10th /equivalent qualified.
Sports Proficiency:-Should have participated at International/National/State level tournament.
Age. 17 to 21 years as on date of commencement of course. Candidates should have been born between 01 Oct 1998 to 30 Sep 2002 (Both dates inclusive)
Selection Criteria for Indian Navy Sailors Recruitment:-
Deserving candidates would be called to appear for trials at designated Naval Centers. The candidates qualifying trials will undergo a medical examination at INS Hamla, Mumbai. The offer of enrolment will be forwarded to the selected candidates only, which will be strictly determined by the requirement in particular sports disciplines and availability of vacancies.
Medical Examination:-
- Medical examination will be conducted by authorized military doctors as per medical standard prescribed in current regulations applicable to sailors on entry.
- Minimum height should be 157 Cms.
- Minimum Chest expansion of 5 cms.
- Candidates are advised to get their ears cleaned for wax and tartar removed from teeth prior to examination.
Note:- Candidates declared medically Temporary Unfit in the recruitment medical examination can avail specialist review from the specified Military Hospital within a maximum period of 21 days. No further review/appeal is permissible.
Candidates declared Medically Permanent Unfit in the recruitment medicals can appeal for specialist opinion in a Military Hospital within 21 days on payment of Rs. 40 /- by Military Receivable Order (MRO) on Government Treasury.

Navy Sailor AA & SSR 01/2019 Eligibility and Syllabus
Medical standards for Indian Navy Sailor (Artificer Apprentice & Senior Secondary Recruit) Entry
Pay & Allowances:-
During the initial training period, a stipend of Rs. 14,600/- per month will be admissible. On successful completion of initial training, they will be placed in Level 3 of the Defence Pay Matrix (₹ 21,700- ₹43,100). In addition, they will be paid MSP @ ₹ 5200/- per month plus DA (as applicable).
Insurance cover- Insurance cover (on contribution) of Rs. 50 lakhs for all sailors is applicable.
Selection Procedure for Indian Navy Sailors Recruitment:-
- Short-listing criteria will be based on higher sports achievements.
- Call up latter will be sent to the selected candidate, in which all the details indicating like date, time and place of selection trail.
- All original certificates and mark sheets are to be produced at the time of selection trial.
- The select list will be prepared from the candidates who qualify in all respects depending upon the available vacancies in particular sports disciplines
Training and Initial Engagement:-
Training:- The initial training for the course will be conducted at INS Chilka followed by Professional training in the allotted trade in various Naval Training Establishments. Branch / Trade will be allocated as per the requirement of Service.
Training Period:-
- Initial Training: 5 Month
- Trade Training:-3-4 Month
Discharge as Unsuitable:-
Sailors are liable to be discharged as UNSUITABLE due to unsatisfactory performance at any time during the training. Additionally, Ag PO entries are liable to be discharged if sports performance does not improve to expected levels in the probationary period of three years.
Initial Engagement:-The initial engagement is subjected to the successful completion of training. The initial engagement is of 15 years.

The application is to be submitted on A4 size paper only as per the given format. Forms can also be downloaded from www.joinindiannavy.gov.in
You have to send the filled application form in the envelope. The type of entry, sports discipline with achievements is to be clearly written on top of the envelope containing the application. Envelopes should be of brown in colour
List of Documents:-
You have to attach Self-attested copy of following documents-
- Matriculation certificate. ( for verification of Date of Birth)
- 10th Mark sheet
- NCC/Sports certificate (If applicable)
- Domicile Certificate
- Two self-addressed envelopes of size 22 x 10 cms with Rs 10/- stamp affixed on one envelope
Photographs:-
Candidates are required to submit one additional recent coloured passport size photograph along with the application with their name and signature on the reverse of the photograph. THE BACKGROUND OF THE PHOTOGRAPH SHOULD BE BLUE. Application received without photographs or not in the specified format will be rejected. Computer-generated/ digital photographs will not be accepted.
