The Indian Naval Academy is the most prestigious officer training academy in India. It is located in Ezhimala, Kannur district, Kerala. INA is a situation between Ezhimala hill and the Kavvayi backwaters and has a 7 KM beachfront on the Arabian Sea. The Indian Naval Academy is designed to provide basic training to all officers who are willing to induct into the Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard. Being the largest naval academy, INA was established in the month of May 1969 and its Ezhimala campus was inaugurated on 8th January 2009. Earlier, it was known as the Ezhimala campus. Later on, the name changed to Indian Naval Academy.

Training procedure and Duration at the INA:
Indian Naval Academy Full Information: The period of initial training for cadet entry is 4 years and direct entry graduate candidates are 22 weeks. The training zone at Indian Naval Academy includes the main academic building complex, physical training, aquatics and outdoor training, fields, a firing range, cadet’s Mess, cadet’s squadrons. It also includes the Service and Technical Training wings, labs, workshops, library, and an 1800-capacity auditorium.
Every other day at the academy offers a different challenge to toughen up the next crop of servicemen. The transformation from boys to men ushers in a strong breed of Indian military personnel equipped to defend the country in the best way possible. INA never lets its cadets feel bored as numbers of events are being held at regular intervals including quizzes, debates, x-country, boxing, athletics, etc. Despite having a strict schedule cadet can get to watch the latest English and Hindi movies.

There are many ways to join the Service, One can join through the NDA and other entries that are after the 12th. The training procedure and duration completely depend on your entries. If you get selected through the NDA, you will need to do the 3 years of training at National Defense Academy and after that, if you select the Naval wings, you will have another training session at the INA (Indian Naval Academy) for at least 22 weeks.
Joining Procedure of INA:
In order to join the Indian Naval Academy. There are mainly three ways that eligible candidates can apply for:
- After 10+2: You can join INA through the UPSC NDA exam or TES (10+2 Technical Entry Scheme). Here, candidates are required to have PCM in 10+2.
- After graduation: You can join INA if you have an Engineering Degree. Here, candidates can join INA through the UPSC CDS exam or directly apply on their website, www.joinindiannavy.gov.in. If you clear the cut-off and you get shortlisted, you can go for the SSB.
- UES Entry: University Entry Scheme or UES is the entry through which you can enroll yourself in INA even before your graduation. For this entry, only engineering students can apply.
